Quality Control Facilitator assures all products, either manufactured or purchased, leaving the facility is of the highest quality standards by inspecting the manufacturing process from beginning to when the product is shipped. Quality Control is also responsible for inspections of all material received into the facility.
This section provides the primary functions of the job. The responsibilities are usually in order of importance and/or time spent. This list may also be used to define "essential functions" for the purposes of the Americans with Disabilities Act. Therefore, duties listed here should be considered "essential". If an applicant cannot perform most if not all of the essential functions, the applicant will not be considered for the position.
Inspects all manufactured and purchased products related to ripping, moulding, finishing, labeling, packaging and inventory. Inspecting also includes auditing inventory floor to shipments.
Measures dimensions of product to determine accuracy of milling or cutting.
Grades specifications for rip stock and moulding process, rip stock size and lengths and must be able to distinguish between species of lumber.
Must have experience reading drawings and using a Vernier caliper.
Inspects sanding specifications as applied to sanding process by species and product.
Inspects finishing for blend of color sample supplied by customer to coating process of manufactured product.
Applies specifications for product for proper finish, adhesion and gloss specifications designed to product.
Inspects Job Traveler to ensure material and paperwork are correct.
Inspects any returns and customer complaints.
Generates Quality Control reports based on daily and/or weekly findings.
Assists supervisors in training a new employee when supervisor feels it s necessary with grading specifications.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS
Knowledge of all wood mouldings produced, species of wood used and manufacturing process, grading and specifications of each product is essential.
Also, good mathematical skills and experience in using calipers and micrometers mandatory.
High School Diploma or a GED is required.
Previous quality control experience is advantageous but not necessary.
Quality Control Facilitator may be required to occasionally lift 40 lbs. Maximum. Employee will be required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) in area of high noise levels, ultra violet light and chemical use. Due to many manufacturing facilities, much walking is required.
