Currently, we are seeking a Tool and Die Maker Level II for manufacturing plant in Palmer Township!

This is a temp to hire position on 2nd shift:

2nd Shift is from 3: 00pm 11: 00pm Monday Friday
$18.00 - $21.00 BOE

Tool and Die Maker-Level II Skilled Labor - Manufacturing

Job Purpose: Analyze specifications, lay out metal stock, set up and operate machine tools, and fit and assemble parts to make and repair dies, cutting and forging tools, jigs, fixtures, gauges, and hand tools.
Essential Job Functions:

1) Fit and assemble parts to make, repair, or modify dies, jigs, gauges, and tools, using machine tools and hand tools.

2) Inspect finished dies for smoothness, contour conformity, and defects.

3) Lift, position, and secure machined parts on surface plates or worktables, using hoists, vises, v-blocks, or angle plates.
4) Measure, mark, and scribe metal stock to lay out machining, using instruments such as protractors, micrometers, scribes, and rulers.

5) Select metals to be used from a range of metals and alloys, based on properties such as hardness and heat tolerance.

6) Set up and operate conventional or computer numerically controlled machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, and grinders to cut, bore, grind, or otherwise shape parts to prescribed dimensions and finishes.
7) Set up and operate drill presses to drill and tap holes in parts for assembly.

8) Smooth and polish flat and contoured surfaces of parts or tools, using scrapers, abrasive stones, files, emery cloths, or power grinders.

9) Study blueprints, sketches, models, or specifications to plan sequences of operations for fabricating tools, dies, or assemblies.

10) Verify dimensions, alignments, and clearances of finished parts for conformance to specifications, using measuring instruments such as calipers, gauge blocks, micrometers, and dial indicators.

11) Visualize and compute dimensions, sizes, shapes, and tolerances of assemblies, based on specifications.

12) Design jigs, fixtures, and templates for use as work aids in the fabrication of parts or products.

13) Develop and design new tools and dies, using computer-aided design software.

14) Conduct test runs with completed tools or dies to ensure that parts meet specifications; make adjustments as necessary.

Tool and Die Maker-Level II Skilled Labor - Manufacturing


1. High school diploma or GED. Advanced machining center training and certification preferred.
2. Five years of tight tolerance tool making experience.
3. Capable of using standard tools and measurement devices (GD&T) such as micrometers, scales, rulers, depth gauges and calipers.
4. Ability to interpret safety instructions, job orders, blueprints, quality specifications, and other related documents.
5. Good written and verbal communication skills.
6. Strong math and mechanical reasoning skills.
7. Ability to contribute as part of a team.
8. Good close vision and depth perception skills.
9. Positive attitude, good judgment and excellent time management skills.
10. Strong sense of responsibility and ownership
11. Pass a pre-employment drug screen
12. Willing to submit to a pre-employment background check
