ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
The assembly work requires good manual dexterity, keen visual acuity, literacy and mechanical aptitude.
The work includes manual assembly, using standard hand tools and special tools designed to accomplish the task. In addition to diverse hand tools, machines such as R.F. Welders, presses, small engine lathes, heat sealers and special purpose proprietary equipment or fixtures are employed in the assembly. Manufacturing devices and test equipment that use electricity, air pressure and vacuum are common.
A full range linear and/or rotational hand, arm and finger motions are required. Precise, visually controlled motion of the hand using small tools and assembling small parts is common and required while wearing surgical gloves, mask and bouffant cap. The assembly specifications may require the application of pressures by arm, hand or finger on a part or with a tool to accomplish the assembly.
A completed package of product ranges from ounces to as much as thirty pounds. The highest frequency of package weight handled is from two to ten pounds. Most parts used in an assembly are from 4 oz to 3 pounds.
The workstations are designed to work while standing or sitting; about fifty percent of each type now exists. The single-piece cycle that repeats at a workstation is usually within a range of ten seconds to fifteen minutes. Most cycles repeat within the range of thirty seconds and three minutes.
Assemblers must produce quality work to production standards.
Calibration is required on some operations which involves the ability to read and interpret pressure, flow gauges and measuring instructions and make adjustments to calibration knobs or screws. Observe operation of various automatic equipment including first piece inspection and some adjustment to machine size or speed control. Visual inspection of own work quality as well as quality of preceding operations.
Notify supervisor of parts shortages, equipment maintenance and adjustment needs. Periodically count and record inventory status. Report timekeeping status on the job as well as delay and downtime.
Perform other duties as directed by supervisor as may be necessary for effective operation.
